Miami Beach is an intermediate to advanced kiteboarding spot. It has narrow crowded beaches and rough surf / rip currents when the wind is blowing.
For the safety of all beachgoers and in order to preserve access to kiters, only IKO certified Level 3 kiters are allowed to kite in Miami Beach and kiter registration is mandatory.
You will be asked to provide the following:
Your registration information is collected for the sole purpose and maintaining your registration status.
Lifeguards, MBKF ambassadors and other city officials may look up your registration status and will only see your (1) name, (2) profile photo and (3) registration status.
Registration is $175 per year and must be renewed each year.

Congratulations, you can kite in Miami Beach according to the local rules.
Your streamer must be attached to your kite. The number shown on the streamer must be legible. If your streamer is lost or damaged, your can order a replacement on our website.
Your registration status can be checked by city officials (lifeguards, code compliance, police department) and by MBKF ambassadors. It must be kept active (renewed each year) and must be in good standing (no documented incidents).
Only IKO Level 3 kiters are allowed to register and kite in Miami Beach. We ask that your provide proof of your level 3 certification in order to register and kite in Miami Beach.
If you lost your card, the IKO Center or Instructor who certified you are the only ones who can send you a new card. Contact either one of them for a new card. Provide the Center with the name of the Instructor who taught you and the level you achieved.
If you are not Level 3 certified, you can take lessons at the 76th Street spot in Miami Beach until they certify you. You will be able to register at this point.

You understand that failing to abide by these rules puts our entire community's access at risk. Therefore, we have a strict, zero-tolerance policy.
Violations witnessed by city officials may result in fines and / or cancellation of your registration status. These violations will be systematically reported to MBKF for record keeping.
Violations reported to us by means of either photo, video or multiple witnesses accounts will be reviewed by an MBKF board of ambassadors. Depending on the severity and circumstances of the violations, the consequence may be a "strike", a probation period, a ban period or a lifetime ban.
